“Flipside Tales of the Mountain Town” Creativity Joint Exhibition -LOHAS Talents & Community Artists

Flipside Tales of the Mountain Town-LOHAS Talents & Community Artists displays collective works done by tens of LOHAS artists in many fields of art, including painting, sculpture, metal crafts, plane image, music, life art, and more. They will be played out jointly with works done by the two community artists, and will concentrate such collective creativity and re-interpret new values for the mining culture. Through brainstorming between local and LOHAS artists, it is expected to break current limits of space and the casual atmosphere, allowing their works to be better constructing the perspectives on lifestyles and spiritual feelings. Such multi-faceted creative thinking may attract even more creators to join the LOHAS program, helping to make the mining towns at Shuijinjiu area a new wonderland of cultures and art.

 

Looking for LOHAS Talents Project Background In August 2012, for the first time the Gold Museum, New Taipei City Government opened its Japanese-style residences for guest artists under the concept of “Looking for LOHAS Talents”. Guests were welcomed to stay for experiencing the atmosphere of the olden days at the mining site and had interactions with the local artists for idea exchange. By doing so, they would become the cultural seeds at Greater Shuijinjiu area with the provided élan and drastic motion for the mountain town.

 

Starting from the spring in 2013, the Museum let applicants to indicate the length of their stay at the park, which might allow a more ample time for them to experience local festivals and interact with local artists, as well as taking part in all types of activities held by the Museum. This would make possible for guest artists to truly stay close to Jinguashi cultures and gain relaxation both physically and spiritually, which the urban life lacks. Furthermore, they would be able to develop astonishing momentums by merging such enjoyments into the wellspring that drives creativity. There are 30 LOHAS Talents divided in 19 groups enter the program in 2014.

 

Community Artists

Since 2006, the Gold Museum has diversified its exhibition contents. It has been providing local artists a space for creativity, as well as a platform for performance and exhibition, and been promoting the artistic environment at the Greater Shuijinjiu area by organizing individual or joint exhibitions of works done by the local artists with the themes of local cultures.

“2014 Community Artists Application Exhibition” differs from those held in previous years in the way that it is a joint exhibition combining the works by two artists from local community and the LOHAS Talents.

The program is expected to agitate these creators a higher inspiration and provide an enjoyable time to the public, appreciating diverse art works and the artistic aspects of Shujinjiu cultures. By the end of the day, the public will experience and view more amusing creative ideas, and more enriched works.
